The Manila City government will be enforcing new restrictions in Blumentritt as markets in the area were overwhelmed by an influx of consumers due to the recent closure of the Balintawak Market in Quezon City.
Public markets and grocery stores in the Blumentritt area were swamped by a surge of consumers today, April 14, as a result of Balintawak Market’s closure.
In response to the influx of buyers, the city government will be implementing the following measures in the Blumentritt area starting Wednesday, April 15:
1. To avoid congestion and observe physical distancing, the city government will be opening three entry and exit points in the area:
-Blumentritt corner Rizal Ave
-Leonor Rivera corner Antipolo
-Blumentritt corner Aurora Blvd
2. Manila City residents shall be allowed in the Blumentritt area from 5:00 am to 12:00 pm
3. Non-Manila City residents shall be allowed in the Blumentritt Area from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm
4. Wholesale Buyers shall be allowed in the Blumentritt area from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm
These new measures will be enforced by the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau, Department of Public Services, Manila Barangay Bureau and the Manila Markets Administration Office.
